South Korea Grinergy provides some solutions.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"9d0e\">Battery Power Grinergy &#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/silicon-valley-cares-about-chips-again\">Michael Malone<\/a>\u00a0one of America\u2019s best-known technology writers has taken a shot at predicting game-changing technology that will fuel Silicon Valley\u2019s next round of growth.herto<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"f627\">In July 2021, Malone among other tech experts who spoke as part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/computerhistory.org\/\">Computer History Museum\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/computerhistory.org\/chm-live\/\">CHM Live<\/a>&nbsp;series on the resilience of Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"3a45\">\u201cI think it is going to be battery power,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are some battery companies out there that are doing some interesting things.\u201d Malone feels batteries may follow the path of other technologies and Moore\u2019s Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"0162\">Well-referenced, Moore\u2019s Law states that we can expect the speed and capability of our computers to increase every couple of years, and we will pay less for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"79de\">It\u2019s noted that Gordon Moore co-founder and chairman emeritus of Intel had always said that, at a certain point, battery power, too, would be the limiting factor for future tech advances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"9cb4\">But, Malone has indicated, perhaps the time has come for battery improvements to escalate. \u201cIt is possible that batteries can get on the freight train of Moore\u2019s Law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"e70f\">\u201cI think the next great invention is just around the corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"30d2\">Not the only one to see the potential in batteries. Rodney Brooks,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/brooks\/\">Panasonic Professor of Robotics (emeritus) at MIT<\/a>, in his recent article&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/the-battery-revolution-is-just-getting-started\"><strong>The Battery Revolution Is Just Getting Started&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a>draws upon the famous line from the 1967 movie The Graduate for an updated 2021 spin. \u201cIf I were to offer advice to an ambitious young graduate today, I\u2019d have one word for her: \u2018Batteries.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"7bc0\">I\u2019d add to not only at Silicon Valley, but to South Korea a hub of battery innovation, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"074b\"><strong>About the Author<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"91ee\">For nearly 30 years, Don Southerton has advised Korean firms doing business in the United States and globally.
