Hanwha bids up to $1.2 billion for Austal USA.
Hanwha Defense USA submitted a preliminary, non-binding offer of $1.05 billion to $1.2 billion for Austal USA’s Mobile, Alabama shipyard and its US support operations.
Austal’s board granted a four-week due diligence period that includes engagement with the Navy, Coast Guard, and the Department of War.
If it closes, Hanwha would run two US yards, Philadelphia and Mobile.

Semiconductors Samsung Electronics closed up as well as SK Hynix on a local report that Singapore’s Temasek plans to invest directly in both chipmakers. . Neither company has confirmed.
